Though they've been open since mid-December, West 3rd Common has been changing their menu and adding specials nearly every day. From $4 Guinness and Jameson shots all day on St. Patrick's Day, to $20 all-you-can-drink brunch, to a new lunch menu, to free garlic fries and beer to anyone who uses the code word "wheaten terrier," there is nearly no end to ways you can save money at this gastropub!
the village voice
That's more or less the message of a Crain's profile of Dan Warren, the restaurateur who opened the East Village's Common Ground in 2005 and the West Village's West 3rd Common last December. Warren explains to Crain's that if "you run a restaurant in a low- to middle-price range in New York City, you're almost immune to the recession."

West 3rd Common is a perfect combination of a friendly neighborhood bar and a nice comfortable lounge all rolled into one friendly gastropub located near Washington Square Park and NYU.

Board games, couches and a free drink with garlic (or regular) fries just for mentioning the term “wheaten terrier.” What more can you ask for? This special, celebrating West 3rd Common’s recent opening (and owner Dan’s dog), runs until March 31st.
89th and Broke
Earlier this week, Laura (thoughts in italics) and I were lucky enough to visit West 3rd Common (full disclosure: we were invited to dine there. We are ethical bloggers!). West 3rd Common is owned by the same person who runs Common Ground, which our guest writer, Jenni, reviewed last week, and it just opened this past December.
Before we left New York City, we wanted to get a chance to spend some time with our friends and family, and there isn't a better place to do so than in a NYC Bar with a last minute happy hour kick-off. It was really great to see everyone and catch up before we headed out. A special shout out goes to the Davina Team that completed a successful baton pass during their 10pm hand-off of their Saturday Night relay.

I like West 3rd Common (1 W. 3rd St., 212-529-2059) — great local, casual hangout, with real fresh comfort food. The Common burger and crawfish Monica always hit the spot.” .
